Mar 3    The highway segments, shown in the above restriction table, for SD11, US16A, SD19, SD25, SD40, SD44, SD71, SD87, SD89, SD251,SD1804, SD1806, SD1806 at 7 t/axle. No overweight permits allowed thru out most of the Rapid City Region.

Mar 11  Highway segments SD20, SD130, SD271 added at 6tons/axle.

Apr  8   Highway segments in the Aberdeen Area for US12, SD27, SD45, and SD 247 added for No O/W Permits.

Mar 24   All restrictions in the Rapid City Region removed except for the southern hills.  Restrictions on Hwy 44 in the Pierre Region also removed.

Apr  4     All restrictions removed in the Mitchell and Rapid City Regions. 

Apr 13    All restrictions removed from all state highways.

2004

Mar 4 All state highways in the Black Hills, and on all state highways east of and including SD 47 from the intersection of SD 47 & SD 34 to the Nebraska border and south of and including SD 34 from the intersection of SD 47 and SD 34 to the Minnesota border. SD 20 from Bison to the intersection of SD 20 & SD 73 will be posted at 7 tons per axle.  SD 44 from Interior to Scenic will be posted at 7 tons per axle.  SD 251 from Gregory to the Nebraska border will be posted at 7 tons per axle.

Mar 9  Spring Load Restrictions will be implemented at 12:01am Monday, March 15, 2004, on all State Highways in South Dakota in accordance with the 2004 Spring Load Limit Restriction Map.  Exceptions to the map are; SD 20 from Bison to SD 73 will continue to be posted at 7 tons/axle instead of the 6 tons/axle indicated on the map, SD 20 from Bison west will not be posted at this time, and SD 63 from US 12 to the North Dakota border will not be posted

Mar 12   Effective at 12:01am Wednesday, March 17, 2004, the Spring Load Limit Restriction of 7 tons/axle will be removed from SD 20, from the intersection of SD 20 & SD 73 to the Wyoming border.  The 7 tons/axle restriction on SD 44 from Interior to Scenic will also be removed at this time.

Mar 22  Effective at 12:01am Wednesday, March 24, 2004, the Spring Load Limit Restrictions will be removed from all SD Highways west of but not including SD 47 from I-90 to SD 18, west of but not including SD 251, south of and including I-90, west of and including SD 73 north of I-90 to SD 212 and south of but not including SD 212 from the interection of SD 73 & SD 212 to the Wyoming border. The area commonly known as the Black Hills will remain under Spring Load Restrictions.

Mar 24  Effective at 12:01am Thursday, March 25, 2004, the 7 ton/axle Spring Load Limit Restriction will be removed from the following highways:  SD 37 from Springfield to SD 50, SD 19 from Bluff Road to SD 46, SD 11 from SD 46 to US 18 & from Alcester to SD 48

Mar 31  Effective at 12:01am Saturday, April 3, 2004, Spring Load Restrictions will be removed from all state highways south of but not including US 212, with the following exceptions:

SD 139 from US 212 to SD 20 will also have all spring load restrictions removed

SD 40 from US 16A at Keystone to SD 79 will also have all spring load restrictions removed

SD 19 Bluff Road to SD 46 is to have no overweight permits

The area commonly known as the Black Hills is still under Spring Load Restrictions

Apr 7     Effective at 12:01am Saturday, April 10, 2004, Spring Load Limit Restrictions will be removed from all state highways

Mar 17 All State Highways in South Dakota north of I-90.

Mar 21 On SD 37 from the east junction of SD 37 and SD 50 near Tyndall, south to the junction of SD 37 and SD 52 north of Springfield at 7 tons per axle.

Mar 25 6 tons per axle on SD 63 from the Jct of US 18 and SD 63 north to Norris

April 14 All State Highways, with the following exceptions: Hwy 71 from US 18 south to the Nebraska border, and the northeastern portion of the state bounded on the west by Hwy 47, on the south by Hwy 34, on the east by the Minnesota border, and on the north by the North Dakota border. Hwy 47 continues to not have spring load restrictions and Hwy 34 will no have spring load restrictions.

April 21 Spring Load Restrictions will be removed from the northeastern portion of the state bounded on the west by SD 47, on the south by SD 34, on the east by the Minnesota border, and on the north by the North Dakota border. This removes all Spring Load Restrictions from all State Highways, except from Hwy 71 from US 18 south to the Nebraska border, which remains posted at 7 tons per axle.

April 28 Spring Loads Restrictions will be removed from Hwy 71 from US 18 south to the Nebraska border.

2002

Feb 15 All highways in the area bounded on the west by Wyoming and Montana, north by North Dakota, east by and excluding SD 47 and the south by and excluding I-90. The Southeast area is bounded on the west by and including SD 47, the north by and including SD 34, the east by Minnesota, and the south by and excluding I-90. Additionally, SD 251 from Nebraska to US 18 and SD 1806 from US 18 north to Missouri River.

Feb 22 All highways in the area bounded on the north by North Dakota, on the west by and including SD 47, on the south by SD 34 and on the east Minnesota.

Mar 28 All state highways north of I-90.

April 19 Spring Load Limit Restrictions will be removed on all state highways.

Mar. 9 All highways in the area bounded on the north by and including SD 34, on the east by & excluding SD 73, on the south by Nebraska, and on the west by Wyoming & Montana.

Mar. 13 All highways in the area bounded on the south by SD 34, on the east by & including SD 73, on the north by North Dakota, and on the west by Wyoming & Montana. All highways in that area bounded on the north by and including SD 34, on the west by and including SD 73, on the south by Nebraska and on the east by Iowa and Minnesota.

Mar. 16 All highways in the area bounded on the north by North Dakota, on the west by SD 73, on the south by SD 34 and on the east by & excluding SD 47.

Mar. 21 All highways in the area bounded on the north by North Dakota, on the west by and including SD 47, on the south by SD 34 and on the east Minnesota

Apr. 17 All Spring Load Limit Restrictions west of the Missouri River and in Hughes, Potter and Sully Counties will be removed on State Highways in South Dakota.

Apr. 23 All Spring Load Limit Restrictions south of and including on SD 34 will be removed in the eastern part of the State on State Highways. On Monday, April 23, 2001, the load limits on State Highways in Campbell & Walworth Counties in the north central part of the State will also be removed.

May 1 Spring Load Limit Restrictions on State Highways in the northeast portion of the State will be removed.

2000

Feb. 25 - All highways N. and E. of a line formed by SD 73 beginning at ND line to US 212 to Missouri RV to Nebraska line. All highways in the Black Hills. Due to the mild winter, spring load restrictions were not implemented in the remainder of the state.

Mar. 24 - All highways N. and E. of a line formed by SD 73 beginning at ND line to US 212 to Missouri RV to Nebraska line and all highways S. & W. of a line formed by and including the following highways beginning on US 83 at ND line to SD 10 to SD47 to US 12 to US 281 to US 212 to Minnesota line. All highways in the Black Hills.

Mar. 30 - All highways N. & E. of a line formed by the following highways beginning on US 83 at ND line to SD 10 to SD47 to US 12 to US 281 to US 212 to Minnesota line.

1999

Feb. 16 - All highways S. & W. of a line formed by the following, exclusive: S. of US 12 starting at the ND Line, W. of SD 73, S. of 212, W. of US 83, S. of US 14, W. of US 281, S. of SD 34 to the MN Line. Certain highways in the south-central portion of the State where not posted as initially intended due to the mile Winter.

Mar. 2 - Balance of the State.

Mar. 29 - All highways W. of the Missouri River, excluding the Black Hills Area and SD 251.
