SDDOT / Bridge Design / Mission Statement
| The Office of Bridge Design is responsible for the approximately 1800 bridges on the State Trunk System. This responsibility includes the hydraulic and structural design of new bridges, large culverts, and other structures. It also includes analysis, rating, overload analysis, oversight for condition inspection, and design of rehabilitation plans for existing structures. This Office provides construction engineering services for all bridges and structure projects on the State Trunk System. In addition, the Office provides technical design guidance, and construction engineering services for the approximately 4000 bridges that are on the local government and county systems in South Dakota. |
