Update in Road Design Manual Chapter 18 - Plans Assembly
Page 18-1, 18-3 and 18-14 Section D: Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, deleted "(SWPPP)" from the title as the SWPPP is a part of this section.
Page 18-5 Under INTRODUCTION minor grammatical edits were made to the 3rd paragraph.
-- Under SECTION METHOD minor grammatical edits were made to the 3rd paragraph.
Page 18-6 Minor grammatical edits were made to this page.
Page 18-7 Revised "Section G-K:Special Sections as Needed" to "Section G, and I-K Special Sections as Needed"

-- Revised "Estimate of Conduit and Cable Quantities" to "Table of Conduit and Cable Quantities".
Page 18-8 Under Deign Designation, information has been added to avoid out of date traffic data information and reformatted for ease of reading.
Page 18-9 Under Storm Water Permit, rewritten to provide direction to include Borrow and Option Borrow areas and on Milling and Overlay projects to limit to exposed soil only. Added comment if the disturbed area is less than 1 acre a 'Storm Water Permit' will not be required.
-- Under Scales, the pargraph was reformatted and "(11X17)" was deleted from the "Plan and Profile Sheets" and "Cross and Pipe Sections" as 11x17 sheets are standard practice.
Page 18-10 Under Section A: Estimate of Quantities, the paragraph was reformatted and notes that SDDOT plan preparers will use the CDBS to prepare this table. Deleted the information downloading from the Web as this is standard practice.
Figure 18-11 Under Subsurface Utility Locations deleted the information downloading from the Web as this is standard practice.
-- Under Plan Sheet: horizontal alignment information, the word "detour" was revised to "diversion" and minor grammatical edits to the last paragraph were made.
Page 18-13 Under Alternate Plan and Profile Sheets, the section was rewritten.
Page 18-14 Under Section C: Traffic Control Plans, the section was rewritten.
Page 18-14 Under Section D: Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, added info regarding section title sheets for Grading and Resurfacing (Fig 18-D1a added), relocation of legend, and other minor changes.
Page 18-15 Under Section L: Signal and Lighting Plans revised "Estimate of Conduit and Cable Quantities" to "Table of Conduit and Cable Quantities".
Page 18-18 NON-SECTION METHOD, "ROW Layout" was included in the list in the proper position and last paragraph was added to indicate what projects this method would be used for and confirm that all the listed sheets are used only as necessary.
Page 18-19 STAGES OF PLANS, the first paragraph identifies the location of the Plan Check list which has been deleted from this chapter and now located under the Downloadable Web page. It further notes that all plans will be stored and delivered as an Adobe PDF file. Clarification is also given on the use of Revision Dates/Initials and the use of the "Not for Construction" watermark.
Figure 18-A4 General Title Sheet Layout - added a note for when the Storm Water Permit will not be required.
Section Title Sheets - Figures were updated to include Project Number(s) at the end of the Begin and End Notes that identifying the project limits.
Figure 18-B10 General Plan Note Layout updated to show the proper location and color of all the notes which conforms to the CADD Symbology Manual.
Figure 18-B11 Rural Plan Sheet was updated for proper information and notes.
Figure 18-B17 Curb and Gutter Layout Sheet - Incuded the note "All curb and gutter shown on this sheet is Type ___ unless noted."
Figure 18-C2 Estimate of Quantities with General Notes and Tables - Replaced with more current sheet using CDBS to create the estimate of quantities.
Figure 18-D1 Section Title Sheet (Grading) - removed the legend.
Figure 18-D1a Section Title Sheet (Resurfacing) was added as an example.
Figure 18E-2 Estimate of Quantities with General Notes and Tables - Replaced with more current sheet using CDBS to create the estimate of quantities.
