Update in Road Design Manual Chapter 3 - Design Process
Previously named Chapter 2 - Design Process, revised to Chapter 3 to be in chronological order as the project design is after the project scope.
Pg 3-2 to 3-3 - Several editorials made in the sections for 'Introduction' and 'Project Authorization and Scope'.
Pg 3-4 to 3-12 - Updated definitions to activities in the sections for 'Design Process', 'Field Surveys', 'Preliminary Design Plans', 'Final Design Plans' and 'Final Plans'. These numbered activities are also included in the Departments current scheduling software Primavera as noted on pg 3-4 of the chapter.
Pg 3-12 - Removed the Project and Design Checklist as these are available on the Road Design WEB page as a downloadable file. ROW Plans and Plat Checklists are still referenced on this page to
Chapter 9 - Right of Way.
Pg 3-4 to 3-12 - Updated 'Project Coordination' for all SDDOT offices listed. The office of Research was added on pg 3-16. Minor revisions were made to sections for State Offices, Federal Offices (including updates regarding the FHWA Stewardship and Oversight Agreement) and Other Agencies.
Pg 3-21 to 3-28 - Added the section on 'Region Design Plan Coordination'. A majority of this information is from SDDOT policy RD-2004-01. This policy will be deleted.
