Final completion of Exit 52 Planned
Rapid City, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation is preparing for completion of the Interstate 90, Exit 52 project near Rapid City in the spring and summer of 2012.
Monitoring of the new multi-plate tunnel structure over the DM&E Railroad has been ongoing since its original construction and following subsurface stabilization work below the footing level that was completed in 2009. The department is now satisfied that movement of the structure has been stabilized and final remedial structural work can be completed.
Construction plans for the structure work and completion of the eastbound lanes of I-90 are currently being prepared for bid-letting in the spring of 2012. Work will begin in April and be completed prior to August 3.
