Longview Road will be closed to traffic from the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14th & Wednesday, October 15th while crews lay asphalt surfacing on Longview Road north of Highway 44.
Construction resumes on Highway 44 RAPID CITY, S.D. – Starting Monday (March 3), daytime traffic on Highway 44 will be reduced to one lane in each direction with 5-10 minute delays expected Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm as crews resume work on the roadway from Longview Road to Airport Road. The speed limit has also been reduced to 45 MPH through part of the project. The project will construct four miles of four lanes with center turn lanes from Longview Road to Airport Road with curb and gutter dividing the lanes throughout most of the project. The lanes will be concrete pavement with several box culverts and storm sewer pipes. Immediate construction activities include box culvert work near Reservoir Road and Anderson Road. The contract is let in combination with two utility contracts. The City of Rapid City and Rapid Valley Sanitary District and Water Company each have contracts for water and sewer installation.
