Study Of Stoplight In Winner To Be Delayed

WINNER, S.D. – Several concerns were raised about traffic signals at the intersection of Highway 18 and Monroe Street in Winner by city officials who attended the Pierre Region Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan public hearing Tuesday, July 24.

Consequently, a study of the traffic signals at the intersection will be delayed to allow adequate time for the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) and city officials to address the concerns.

One concern is the timeframe in which SDDOT plans to place the traffic signals in flash mode in order to conclude the study.

The department will work closely with Winner city officials to prepare and plan for the continuation of the study and ensure that placing the signals in flash mode will not compromise the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
