Work at Mt. View Road and Jackson Boulevard Intersection in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Wednesday, Nov. 28, construction crews will remove the raised median islands on Jackson Boulevard at the intersection with Mt. View Road in Rapid City and pave these areas level with the existing pavement.

Removal of the medians is necessary to maintain a left-turn lane during the Jackson Boulevard reconstruction project that will begin in the spring of 2013.

During this removal work, the left turn lane from Jackson Boulevard onto Mt. View Road will be temporarily closed.

Lane closures will be set-up on Jackson Boulevard and Mt. View Road reducing traffic to one lane in each direction. Traffic is encouraged to use an alternate route during the construction to avoid delays and reduce congestion in the area.

Traffic will be restored to normal flow on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Heavy Constructors is the prime contractor on this $11 million project. The overall completion date is June 28, 2014.

For more information, contact Sean Hogard with Heavy Constructors at 605-939-5347 or the Department of Transportation in Rapid City at 605-394-2248.
