REVISED: I-229 Evening Closures Schedule in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Grangaard Construction, a contractor for the South Dakota Department of Transportation, has revised their construction schedule for setting of the bridge girders on Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls.
On Saturday and Sunday nights (March 23 and 24), all lanes of I-229 in Sioux Falls between I-29 and Louise Ave. will be open to traffic.
On Monday, March 25, the contractor will continue to set bridge girders over the northbound lanes of I-229 at 8 p.m. and finish by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26.
Starting on Tuesday, March 26 at 8 p.m., the contractor will close the southbound lanes of I-229 between Interstate 29 and Louise Avenue between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The evening closures in the southbound lanes of I-229 will continue every night beginning at 8 p.m. until all bridge girders have been set over the southbound lanes, which is anticipated to be completed by Thursday morning, March 28 at 6 a.m.
The detour routes for the NB I-229 closure are as follows:
- From NB I-29, use Exit 73 (Tea Interchange), travel east to Louise Avenue and proceed north to I-229.
- From SB I-29, use Exit 77 (41st Street), travel east to Louise Avenue and proceed south to I-229.
The detour routes for the SB I-229 closure are as follows:
- From SB I-229, use Exit 1C (Louise Avenue) travel south to Lincoln County 106 and proceed west to SB I-29 (Tea Interchange).
- From SB I-229, use Exit 1C (Louise Avenue) travel north to 41st Street and proceed west to NB I-29.
This work is being done in conjunction with the I-229 Solberg-Tallgrass overpass project.
Overall completion date for the $6.25 million project is August 17, 2013.
