Russell Street Construction To Begin

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The city of Sioux Falls will begin reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Russell Street from Westport Avenue to Minnesota Avenue on Monday, April 8, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

Work to reconstruct the westbound lanes of Russell Street will begin in the southeast quadrant of the Russell Street and Westport Avenue intersection.

Motorists may experience limited northbound right-turn movements from Westport Avenue onto eastbound Russell Street while the intersection is being worked on.

Upon completion of the work in the intersection, the westbound lanes will be closed and traffic placed head-to-head in the eastbound lanes of Russell Street between Westport Avenue and Kiwanis Avenue.

The completion date for reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Russell Street is Nov. 1, 2013.

The eastbound lanes of Russell Street will be reconstructed next year. The overall completion date for the entire project is November, 2014.

The prime contractor on the $18.3 million project is T&R Contracting of Sioux Falls.
