Nighttime Lane Closures Scheduled On I-229

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Grangaard Construction, will be removing the bridge deck forms over Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls starting on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. CDT, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation.

The contractor will close the southbound lanes of I-229 between I-29 and Louise Avenue Thursday evening (Aug. 8) between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The northbound lanes of I-229 between I-29 and Louise Avenue will be closed Friday evening (Aug. 9) between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The nighttime closures will allow workers to safely remove the bridge deck forms from above the Interstate driving lanes.

Motorists will need to find an alternate route during this time.

The work is anticipated to be completed by Saturday morning at 6 a.m.

This work is being done in conjunction with the I-229 Solberg-Tallgrass overpass project.  Overall completion date for the $6.25 million project is Aug. 17, 2013.
