Signal Study On Highway 212 and Main Street In Redfield

REDFIELD, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be conducting a second traffic study for the evaluation and potential removal of the traffic signal at U.S. Highway 212 & Main St in Redfield.

The second traffic study is being done as requested by the Mayor of Redfield to evaluate the intersection during the fall harvest when more traffic may be present.

Current and forecasted traffic volumes at the intersection are not high enough to meet the warrants for a traffic signal according to federal guidelines. As a part of the traffic study, the SDDOT will evaluate vehicle and pedestrian traffic delay, safety and accident history to determine the appropriate traffic control for the intersection.

The study will begin Oct. 25, and last between two and four weeks. During the study period, the traffic signal will be set to flash yellow for Highway 212 and red for Main Street to evaluate the intersection.
