I-90 Eastbound Reconstruction near Cactus Flats

WALL, S.D. – On Monday, April 7, 2014, Knife River Midwest, LLC will begin work on a nine-mile reconstruction project on Interstate 90 east of Wall from mile marker 123 to 132, near Cactus Flats.

The $14.7 million dollar project involves grading, removing and replacing the concrete pavement, installing edge drains, and paving new asphalt shoulders on the eastbound lanes of I-90.

Traffic on I-90 in the construction zone will be reduced to one-lane in each direction and two-way traffic maintained in the westbound lane with a 16-foot width restriction.

Motorists are asked to watch for slowing traffic, merging lanes, construction equipment entering and existing the work zone, and construction workers.

The speed limit on I-90 will be reduced to 65 mph for the two-way traffic in the westbound lanes.

Before traffic is moved to the westbound lanes, work will be done at the bridge ends with single lane closures required and a speed limit of 45 mph when workers are present adjacent to the closed lane.

The Exit 127 eastbound on- and off-ramps will be closed during construction. Eastbound off-ramp traffic will be detoured to Exit 131 and eastbound on-ramp traffic will detoured to Exit 121.

All work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 24, 2014.
