Construction on Highway 18 West of Maverick Junction

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, work will begin one mile west of Maverick Junction at Highway 18 and Highway 79 intersection on Wednesday, July 5.


During the project, the contractor will be completing box culvert riprap restoration.


Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the work zone for both west and east bound lanes and controlled by arrow boards, barrels and barricades. Traffic will not be restored to normal flow at the end of each day or during night time hours.


Motorists can expect short delays, suddenly slowing and stopped traffic, construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane and are encouraged to use an alternate route. 


This work is expected to be complete by July 14, 2017 and the final completion date is Sept. 29, 2017.


The prime contractor for the $69,421 dollar project is Mainline Contracting from Rapid City.
