Department of Transportation Seeks Public Input into the

I-229 Exit 3 (Minnesota Avenue) & Exit 4 (Cliff Avenue) Interchanges Study

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the City of Sioux Falls, will hold a public open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Lincoln High School, 2900 South Cliff Avenue in Sioux Falls, to inform area residents of the beginning of the study and introduce and begin receiving public input on the environmental study for both the Interstate 229 Exit 3 (Minnesota Avenue) and Exit 4 (Cliff Avenue) interchanges.

The open house will be informal allowing for one on one discussion with the study team. The purpose for the open house is to inform the public of the study’s intent, to record any concerns the public may have along the study’s corridor, and to remind the public of the ideas developed during the I-229 Major Investment Study.

The corridors being studied include Minnesota Avenue between 37th Street and 57th Street and Cliff Avenue between 36th Street and the Big Sioux River bridge. It includes improvement options for both the Exit 3 and Exit 4 Interchanges with I-229.

A short presentation will be given at approximately 5:35 p.m. Area residents, business owners and daily commuters are encouraged to attend and participate in the study. The environmental process for the project will also be introduced at the public information meeting. The opportunity to present written comments will be provided and will be accepted until Feb. 6, 2019. For those than cannot attend in person, the meeting will be live-streamed for your convenience and participation via the city of Sioux Falls’ Facebook page. You will be able to enter questions and watch live at www.facebook.com/CitySiouxFalls.

For those who cannot attend the open house, participate in the livestream or would like additional information on the overall study, information is available online at www.i229exits3and4.com. The presentations and displays shown at the open house will be available online within a few days after the open house meeting. The website also allows for online comments to be submitted. The study team would appreciate hearing from the area commuters, concerned citizens and adjacent landowners and business owners throughout the study period.

Notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that this open house/public meeting is being held in a physically accessible place. Any individuals with disabilities who will require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in the open house/public meeting should submit a request to the department’s ADA Coordinator at 605-773-3540 or 1-800-877-1113 (Telecommunication Relay Services for the Deaf).
