LEMMON, S.D. – Crews will begin asphalt milling on Highway 73 between the junction of Hugh Glass Road in Perkins County and the junction of Highway 12, beginning Tuesday, April 23.

The work will include asphalt milling, reworking and recompacting the salvaged material and installing a new asphalt surface.

Highway 73 will be reduced to one lane during working hours with traffic controlled by flaggers and pilot car. Motorists can expect up to 15-minute delays, suddenly slowing and stopped traffic, uneven or rough surface and construction equipment and workers adjacent to the roadway. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place for this stretch of highway.

Asphalt milling and resurfacing will also be done on Highway 12 from the North Dakota border to the Corson County line after Highway 73 is completed.

The prime contractor on this $9.96 million-dollar project is Anderson Western, Inc. from Bismarck, North Dakota.

The overall completion date for the project is Nov. 8, 2019.
