HILL CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says a milling and resurfacing project will begin on Tuesday June 11, on Highway 16.

The work will take place on Highway 16, four miles south of Hill City to Hill City, and from Hill City to Three Forks. This project will take about two to three weeks to complete.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and guided through the project with the use of flaggers and a pilot car. A delay of up to 15 minutes can be expected while traveling through the work area during daytime hours. Motorists may want to seek an alternate route during construction.

Loose gravel will be present after each day’s milling operation. Traffic should travel at 40 mph or the posted speed limit if it is less than 40 mph during this time frame.

The prime contractor on this $1.4 million project is Western Construction, Inc. of Rapid City.
