CORS Information

The Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) is a cooperative effort between the Office of Road Design and the Office of Planning and Programs. The CORS, a Trimble 4000SSI receiver with its antenna, is located on top of the Becker-Hansen Building in Pierre, South Dakota. The CORS has been in operation since 1993 and the horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1997.

  • YYYY = Year (e.g. 2004)
  • MM = 2 digit month number (e.g., 01 = January)
  • DD = 2 digit day number
  • HH = 2 digit hour indicator based on UTC (e.g., 00 = 1st hour of day, 23 = last hour
  • .ZIP = extension of the file name indicating the files are zipped files
