Reservoir Road



What is being built?
Reservoir Road will be reconstructed from approximately 500’ north of the intersection of Hwy 44 north 1.2 miles to the intersection of Twilight Dr. Longview Road will also be reconstructed from 600’ east of the intersection of Hwy 44 east 0.4 miles to 500’ east of the intersection of Reservoir Road. Longview and Reservoir Roads will be widened to a 3-lane roadway section. Curb and gutter along with storm sewer upgrades will also be completed on both roads. In conjunction with the road reconstruction project, sanitary sewer and water utilities will be upgraded. This project also requires new drainage structures to be constructed to accommodate the Murphy and Hawthorne irrigation ditches that cross the project.

Phase 1 includes grading and interim surfacing on Reservoir Road from Hwy 44 north through the intersection of Longview Road and grading and permanent surfacing on Longview Road from Hwy 44 east to the intersection of Reservoir Road.

Phase 2 includes placing permanent surfacing on Reservoir Road from Hwy 44 to the intersection of Longview Road, grading and permanent surfacing on Longview east of Reservoir Road and grading and permanent surfacing on Reservoir Road from Longview Road to Twilight Dr.

Project Schedule
Phase I - August 2009 – December 2009
  • Complete grading and surfacing on Longview from Hwy 44 to the intersection of Reservoir Road
  • Complete grading and interim surfacing on Reservoir Road from Hwy 44 to the intersection of Longview.
    • Traffic on Reservoir Road from Hwy 44 to the intersection of Longview will be maintained on a gravel surface through the winter months. One lane each direction will be maintained.
  • Complete water and sanitary sewer upgrades on Longview Road and Reservoir Road to the intersection.
Phase 1 - December 2009 – March 2010
  • Complete box culvert installation on Reservoir Road for the Hawthorne Irrigation Ditch.
  • Continue with water and sanitary sewer upgrades on Reservoir Road north of the intersection of Longview Road.
Phase 2 - March 2010 – November 2010
  • Complete permanent surfacing on Reservoir Road south of Longview Road.
  • Complete permanent surfacing in the Longview Road and Reservoir Road intersection.
  • Complete grading and permanent surfacing on Longview Road east of Reservoir Road intersection.
  • Complete water and sanitary sewer upgrades on Reservoir Road from Longview Road to Twilight Drive.
  • Complete grading and surfacing on Reservoir Road from Longview Road north to Twilight Drive.
  • Complete final restoration and seeding.

Work in Progress
Grading and permanent surfacing has been completed on Longview Road from Hwy 44 to 200’ short of the intersection with Reservoir Road. Minor restoration and seeding remains on this portion of the project. Traffic has been restored on this section of roadway.

Temporary surfacing has been completed on Reservoir Road from Hwy 44 to the Longview Road intersection. Traffic had been restored in this area.

Water and sewer upgrades are complete on Reservoir and Longview Road up to the intersection.

Traffic Flow
Phase 1 - Reservoir Road
Traffic will be allowed to travel north bound only on Reservoir Road. South bound traffic will not be allowed between Williams St. and Colvin St. South bound traffic will be maintained from Colvin St. to Hwy 44. South bound traffic will need to use Williams St. to Covington St. to Hwy 44 as the detour route.
Phase 1 – Longview Road
Traffic will be allowed east bound only from Hwy 44 to Obrien St. Longview will be closed from Obrien St. to the intersection of Reservoir Road. East bound traffic past Obrien St. must use Reservoir Road or an alternate route east of Reservoir Road. West bound traffic on Longview Road east of Reservoir Road to Hwy 44 must use Colvin St detour to Reservoir Road.
Phase 2 – Reservoir Road
North Bound traffic only will be allowed. North bound traffic will be maintained on gravel surface with flaggers and pilot cars. South bound traffic will not be allowed from Twilight Dr. to Longview Road. South bound traffic from Twilight must use detour to Hwy 44 via Covington St. or alternate route.

    Traffic will be maintained both directions on Longview from Hwy 44 to Reservoir Road intersection. Traffic east of Reservoir Road on Longview Road will be required to use the Colvin St. detour to Reservoir Road during the grading and surfacing operations.
