Chamberlain Truss Bridge

What is being built?
This project will rehabilitate the Chamberlain / Oacoma Truss Structure that spans the Missouri River on the I-90 Business Loop at the end of King Street in Chamberlain.
Work consists of removal of the existing bridge deck, removal of existing paint from the truss members, repairing or replacing rusted steel, repainting the truss, repair of concrete piers, and replacement of the bridge deck.

- Repaint the structure
- Bump grinding
- Lights with conduit
- Riprap work near abutment #12
- Unclassified Excavation and grading (both ends)
- Contractor Furnished Topsoil and seeding (both ends)
- Base Coarse and Asphalt Concrete Composite (west end)
- Concrete Protective Coating, Special Surface Finish, and Class B Commercial Texture Finish
- Groove deck (spans 1-5)
- Concrete Penetrating Sealer (curbs and spans 1-5)
- Heat straightening
- Sealing expansion joints
- Strip seal and compression seal near abutment #1 and #12
- Substructure repair work (Rout and seal cracks in structural concrete and Class A45 concrete for bridge repair)
- Deck drain brackets
- Complete underdrain pipe at abutment #12
- Repair work
- Approach slab near abut #1
- South curb near abut #12
- Honeycomb areas under deck
- Wind loading anchor bolt holes
- Remove all chamfer strips
- Rub curb in spans 1-4
- Remove cross bracing
- Bridge Elevation Survey
Overall completion date August 1, 2011
Traffic Affects
Bridge closed to all traffic until December 1, 2010. Detour will take travelers across the Missouri River on I-90.
Boat Traffic will be allowed to cross below structure. Buoys will be used to warn boat traffic of construction.
