1. I-229/I-90 Interchange

Location: Both SB and NB lanes of I-229 from approximately ¾ mile north of Exit 9 (Benson Road Interchange) to the I-90 Interchange. The work limits also include all ramps from I-229 to I-90

Description of Work: Minor Grading and PCC Pavement

Phase I:
The contractor has completed this phase of work.

Phase II:
Phase II of the project is substantially complete. Phase II is the northbound I-229 lanes, the northbound loop ramp and the northbound off-ramp to eastbound I-90.

Phase III:
Phase III of the project is substantially complete. Phase III of the project is the EB I-90 to SB I-229 on-ramp and the SB I-229 lanes south of the on-ramp.

Phase IV:
Phase IV of the project is substantially complete.

Traffic Affects: All portions of the roadway are open to traffic. The contractor is completing minor work items and lane reductions may be in-place during daytime hours.

2. Highway: SD 34

Location: Hwy 34 from Interstate 29 to Moody County Hwy 11 / 1 mile west of SD Hwy 13

Description of Work:Grading, Curb and Gutter, Structure, PCC Paving and Interim Surfacing

R and G Construction Company is working on project punch list items.

Eastern Dakota Specialties is installing fence from Egan toward Interstate 29.

Traffic Affects: SD Hwy 34 is open to through traffic. The project has an overall completion date of July 1, 2010.

3. Highway: I-90

Location: One mile East of the Valley Springs Exit #410

Description of Work: Bridge Deck Repair and Epoxy Chip Seal Overlay

Sioux Falls Construction Company continues performing the bridge deck repairs and epoxy chip seal overlay to the mainline structures on I-90.

Traffic Affects: Interstate 90 will be reduced to one lane thru the construction area for both eastbound and westbound traffic. Speed limits will be reduced to 65 MPH across the bridges while lane closures are in place and reduced to 45 MPH while workers are present.

4. Highway: I-90

Location: 1000 ft West of the Brandon Exit #406

Description of Work: Bridge deck repair and Epoxy Chip Seal Overlay

Dakota Traffic Services has installed Lane Closures and Speed Reductions for work on the Mainline I-90 Structures. Dakota Traffic Services has also set up Stop Sign closures for abutment repairs on the interstate overpass for Minn. Co. Hwy 159.

Sioux Falls Construction Company will be completing epoxy chip seals and concrete bridge deck repairs in these locations.

Traffic Affects: Interstate 90 will be reduced to one lane thru the construction area with a 12' maximum width restriction for both eastbound and westbound traffic at both locations. An over width detour is in place for any over width vehicles. Speed limits will be reduced to 65 MPH across the bridges while lane closures are in place and reduced to 45 MPH while workers are present.

The bridge for Minnehaha County Hwy 159 over the interstate is reduced to one lane across the structure. Motorists should exercise caution when crossing this structure and should be aware of construction equipment on the bridge deck and oncoming traffic. For part of this construction absolutely no traffic will be allowed across the centerline of the bridge. Any over width traffic is advised to seek alternate routes.

5. Highway: SD 11

Location: Hwy 11 from 26th Street to Hwy 42/ Arrowhead Parkway.

Description of Work: Grading, PCC Pavement, Asphalt Concrete Surfacing, Curb and Gutter, Storm Sewer, Traffic Signals & Street Lighting

T&R Contracting will be performing concrete repairs in both the northbound and southbound lanes.

Traffic Affects: There will be lanes closures placed throughout the length of the project to allow for the concrete repairs. Travelers are urged to use caution when driving through these areas.

6. Highway: SD 17

Location: Hwy 17 from approximately 2000 feet south of 57th Street to Highway 42 and intersection improvements at 41st Street approximately 500 feet east and west of Highway 17.

Description of Work: Grading, RC Box Culverts, and asphalt surfacing

McLaughlin and Schulz will be back in the Spring of 2010 to place the 2nd lift of asphalt on Highway 17.

Traffic Affects: The project is open to traffic.

7. Highway: US 81/SD 34

Location: US 81 in Madison and from US14 south 9 miles & SD34 in Howard and Madison

Description of Work: Pavement Restoration, Pavement Marking, Traffic Signals, ADA Upgrade, & Water Main Crossing

The signals system at N. 2nd Street and Washington Avenue are operating. Miscellaneous clean up work remains.

Traffic Affects: Travelers are urged to use caution and slow down when workers are present.

8. 41st Street over I-29 in Sioux Falls

Location: 41st Street over I-29 in Sioux Falls.

Description of Work: Epoxy Chip Seal Overlay

Dakota Traffic Services has set up Lane Closures for the pavement repairs and an Epoxy Chip Seal Overlay on 41st Street over I-29.

RAM Construction Services will be completing the pavement repairs and the Epoxy Chip Seal Overlay in this location.

Traffic Affects: 41st street over I-29 is reduced to two lanes of traffic in each direction. No left turns on to the Northbound or Southbound ramps are allowed at this location. Eastbound or Westbound traffic wanting to enter I-29 North or South should seek alternate routes. These traffic restrictions will remain in place until all work on 41st street are complete. Motorists should exercise caution when crossing this structure and should be aware of construction equipment on the bridge deck.

9. Interstate 29

Location: From Exit 62 (Canton) to Exit 73 (Tea)

Description of Work: Pavement Restoration

Smith & Smith Construction has completed pavement repairs on I29 near MRM 68 SB. There is work to be performed on I229 near Louise Ave if weather allows.

Traffic Affects: Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work area. Flaggers may be used to slow traffic for certain operations in the work area. Travelers are urged to use caution and slow down when workers are present and should expect some delay. The scheduled project completion date is October 30, 2009.

10. SD 42 & SD 11

Location: SD42 east of Sioux Falls at the junction with SD11 north and SD11 from SD42 north through Brandon and Corson.

Description of Work: Pavement Restoration and Permanent Pavement Marking

Dakota Contracting is performing joint repair work south of Brandon on the 2 lane portion of SD 11. They are using a stop sign system for that work, motorists should expect delays.

The Contractor intends to have the pavement repair completed by December 4, 2009 if weather allows.

The permanent pavement markings will be replaced once the pavement repair and joint sealing work is complete.

Traffic Affects: Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work area. The 2 lane portions of SD42 and SD11 will be using a system of stop signs on either side of the work area. There may be flaggers used to slow or stop traffic for certain operations in the work area. Travelers are urged to use caution and slow down when workers are present and should expect some delay. The scheduled project completion date is June 4, 2010.
